Apples, Trees and Gravity

One of the great benefits of being a parent is to wax giddily about your children. To the annoyance of your friends and especially non-parents, ones smiles and admires the humans in miniature one has had a role in creating.

In doing so one day – I, a proud father – stood back and marveled at the surprisingly mature statement made by my oldest child. The words spilled out of my mouth, “How did you get to be so smart?”

Without looking up or breaking stride in what she was attending to, she said, “I get it from my Mom.”
